Week of March 21st, 2016

This week in class: 

Math - We will do a fun fractions project! Our Mid-Chapter Quiz will be Friday! 

Science - We will be mixing solids and liquids! 

***A very special thank you to all of our field trip chaperones! It was a great trip! 

AMP Testing is coming up NEXT WEEK!!! 
*** 3rd grade will be AMP Testing on March 31st and April 1st from 9:15 - 12:15 each day. In the afternoon, we will be doing fun and relaxing activities :) 

As a fun way to show our support and encourage everyone to do well on the tests, student council wants to have AMP spirit days for the rest of this week and then on Monday of next week.

These are the daily themes:

Tuesday:  March 22nd Nerd day

Wednesday: March 23rd decades day. pick your favorite decade to dress up in

Thursday:  March 24th Dress for success

Friday: March 25th Ursa Major spirit swag or Pajama day

Monday, March 28th: Rock and roll for Rock the AMP!

This Week in Class: 

Math - We are beginning Chapter 8 "Understanding Fractions" 

Science - We will continue our explorations of the changes of states of matter with fun experiments!

***THERE IS NO SCHOOL NEXT WEEK. HAPPY SPRING BREAK!!! :) 

Dino-Lights Field Trip - Monday, March 21st (Our first day back from spring break) Please make sure your child has had breakfast and is on time to school because our field trip bus will leave first thing in the morning. 

Dr. Seuss Spirit Week! Week of February 29th - March 4th

Let's Celebrate Dr. Seuss with a week of fun! 

Monday - Backwards Day 

Tuesday - Twin Day 

Wednesday - Red and white -OR- Dress as a Dr. Seuss character 

Thursday - Crazy Hat Day 

Friday - Pajama Day 

On Wednesday, March 2nd, please bring books to read throughout the day. We are also going to have a pancake breakfast, so if your child has allergies, please contact me about an alternative option. 

Week of February 22nd, 2016

This Week in Class:

Math - We will continue learning about strategies for division. We will also explore 2 step word problems!

Social Studies - We will bring our Native Groups studies to a close with learning about the Tlingit Native Group.

Reminders - Variety Show is this Friday the 26th @ 6:00 !!!
                  - Last day to bring in goodies for the "Movie Night" basket are Monday the 22nd!

We will begin Chapter 7 which will cover strategies for dividing.

We will learn about the Aleut culture.

We will write Valentines!

This week in class: 

Math: 

Our Chapter 6 test on division is Wednesday! We will also be doing a project that shows the relationship between multiplication and division! 

Social Studies: 

We will learn about the Yupik native group this week. 

Writing: 

We are writing about acts of kindness we do around school. We will also begin writing Valentine's Day poems!
